About Us

Visionary Pharma Consulting LLC was founded in May 2011 by Anastasia Lolas and is located in Olney, MD. We provide technical consulting services to the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industry regarding microbial control, sterility assurance and product quality microbiology aspects of regulatory filings as well as cGMP and compliance. 

Prior to forming Visionary Pharma Consulting LLC, Anastasia Lolas held two different positions at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). Her most recent position, since September 2008, was as a Microbiologist in the Biotech Manufacturing Team in the Division of Manufacturing and Product Quality in the Office of Compliance. In this position, Anastasia reviewed the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) section of biologics license applications (BLAs) for therapeutic biological proteins, participated in industry meetings regarding filings and facility design and conducted pre-license and pre-approval inspections of biologic drug substance and drug product manufacturing sites. Prior to joining the Office of Compliance, Anastasia was a Review Microbiologist in the New Drug Microbiology Staff in the Office of Pharmaceutical Science. In that position, Anastasia reviewed the CMC microbiology section submitted in new drug applications (NDAs) for sterile and non-sterile small molecule drugs.

Previous positions before joining FDA in 2005, include Science Assistant in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences at the National Science Foundation (2003-2004) and Microbiologist at Nestle Waters North America (1999-2002). At Nestle, Anastasia held two positions. The first was in the Corporate Quality Assurance Laboratory, where she performed microbiological analyses of bottled water and spring source water. From 2000-2002, Anastasia held the position of Industrial Microbiologist, auditing manufacturing plant laboratories, updating microbiological procedures and sampling plans, analyzing microbiological data and training plant microbiologists. 

Anastasia holds a B.S. in Biology (magna cum laude) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a M.S. in Food Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
